The Russian Imperial Academy was founded in 1757 by Peter the Great. For almost two centuries The Imperial Academy has been promoting traditional and classical fine art. Soviet art education was founded on the principals and methodology of that great foundation, culminating in an exceptional level of achievement between 1930s and 1970s.
