"Excellence is not a single act, but a habit. You are what you repeatedly do." - Aristotle
The Academy offers a four year term: a two year Foundation, followed by a two year Advanced Program including Portfolio Development. The approach is didactic, progressing from simple to increasingly complex objectives.
The first two years develop visual literacy as well as fundamental drawing and painting skills. The Academy’s curriculum strongly emphasizes drawing, which is the foundation of painting and sculpture, and is an essential skill for the artist to master. The Foundation program is advised to be taken not only by those who want to become a professional painter, but to anybody interested to enter fields such as Sculpture, Architecture, Animation, 3D Graphics, Design, Illustration, or Film, all visual art disciplines require knowledge of comparative measurements, perspective, form, structure, anatomy, light, tone, and color.
The Academy supports and encourages successful careers in art. The Advanced Program, culminating in a Diploma Project is designed to facilitate professional development and portfolio preparation.
While continuing to develop drawing and painting skills, advanced students select a subject matter and direction they would like to pursue in depth. Individual assignments are tailored according to specific interests and career aspirations such as Genre, Imaginative/Fantasy, Figurative, Portraiture, Still Life, Nature, and Illustration. Following the time tested methods proven by centuries of academic tradition, students acquire the skills required to put together a painting from beginning concept to finished piece. A diploma is awarded to graduates after the Diploma Project has been successfully completed.
